The first annual Big Sky Songwriters Festival will take place August 15-19 in Big Sky, MT, presenting an exciting forum for anyone who wants to become a better songwriter, learn about the dynamics of music publishing, and explore ways to have your music heard on a global level.

The goal is to help songwriters, and those who want to learn the craft of songwriting, by providing access to some of the very best in the business. Instructors for the first annual event include Rory Feek ("Some Beach" Blake Shelton), Steve Bogard ("Praying For Daylight" Rascal Flatts), Chas Sanford ("Missing You" John Waite/Tina Turner), Kostas ("Blame It On Your Heart" Patty Loveless), Jon Mabe ("The Climb" Miley Cyrus), Bruce Burch ("Rumor Has It" Reba McEntire), James House ("Broken Wing" Martina McBride), Suzi Ragsdale (Pam Tillis, Darrell Scott), Austin troubadours Walt Wilkins, Kevin Welch, and Dustin Welch, Montana’s John Bohlinger, Paul Durham (Black Lab), and Jon Pousette-Dart ("Amnesia").

Industry leaders scheduled to host workshops include ASCAP Sr. Creative Director Mike Sistad, BMG/Chrysalis Publishing Sr. Creative Director Sara Johnson, Magic Mustang Music Publishing (Jason Aldean) Sr. Director Juli Newton Griffith, Americana Music Association/Music Fog’s Jessie Scott and more. Registrants will not only learn about the ins and outs of songwriting, but also publishing, legal issues and the music business in general.

Each evening BSSF will host exclusive live performances by many of the participating instructors and some special guests. These intimate shows, that will also be open to the public, will take place at the Whiskey Jack in Big Sky on August 16th, 17th and 18th. The final performance schedule is soon to be announced to the public.

Use promo code ASCAP when registering to receive 10% off! The Big Sky Resort is giving BSSF registrants an amazing rate at Huntley Lodge (on location) of only $50/night, per person, double occupancy.
