Dramatic Overtures
Beatmaker Chris "Drama" Pfaff Starts Causin' Drama of His Own
By Etan Rosenbloom
If you're one of the millions of viewers that made the hit series Rob and Big and Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory two of the top reality shows in recent MTV history, you probably already know ASCAP member Chris "Drama" Pfaff. On Rob and Big, fans got to know Drama as the personal assistant (and resident punching bag) to his pro skateboarder cousin Rob Dyrdek. He and Rob help turn bizarre fantasies into reality on the current hit show Fantasy Factory, which gave MTV its highest-rated series premiere among male teens in five years.
But what you might not be able to tell from Drama's easy-going on-screen personality is that he's quite the go-getter when it comes to music. On the second season of Fantasy Factory, which began August 27th, 2009, Drama steps out on his own as a serious DJ and producer. Since transitioning from his hometown of Akron, Ohio to Los Angeles, Drama has built up his own production company, known as Causin' Drama. In addition to writing cues for both Rob and Big and Fantasy Factory, Drama has collaborated with hip-hop heavyweights Snoop Dogg (see him freestyling over Drama's beats here) and The Game. He's also crafted beats for urban artists like R&B singer Jah Free and rappers Glasses Malone, Bishop Lamont and Nipsey Hussle.
When not making music, Drama's a skater in his own right and a successful entrepreneur with his own clothing line, Young and Reckless. Clearly, Drama's got a lot going on. No doubt we'll be hearing a lot more from this talented jack-of-all-trades in the near future.
